Hawaii Health Systems Corp. announced Monday afternoon that Linda Rosen, M.D., M.P.H., will be its new chief executive officer. She will start her new position with HHSC on Dec. 16.
Hawaii Health Systems Corp. announced Monday afternoon that Linda Rosen, M.D., M.P.H., will be its new chief executive officer. She will start her new position with HHSC on Dec. 16.
Rosen will succeed Alice Hall, who has served as interim CEO since Aug. 31, 2013.
Rosen currently serves as director of the Hawaii State Department of Health. She was appointed to the position in February by Gov. Neil Abercrombie following the death of Loretta Fuddy in a Dec. 11, 2013, plane crash. Prior to being appointed the department’s director, Rosen was chief of the Emergency Medical Services and Injury Prevention System Branch overseeing 911 ambulance services and trauma system development. She has also served as deputy director of the department’s Health Resources Administration and medical director for Family Health Services Division.
Prior to joining the state Department of Health, Rosen specialized in pediatric intensive care, neonatology and emergency medicine. During that time, she spent 17 years providing direct care to patients in the Intensive Care and Emergency Departments at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children. She was also a full-time faculty member of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.
Hawaii Health Systems Corp. was established in 1996 and operates 13 longterm care and acute care facilities throughout the State of Hawaii, as well as numerous physician clinics. The HHSC operates on the Big Island Hilo Medical Center, Ka’u Hospital, Hale Hoola Hamakua, Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home, Kona Community Hospital and Kohala Hospital.
